
Over the past five years, Australian born screenwriter, film producer and director, James Wan, has frightened audiences worldwide with his work on The Conjuring series. Since the release of the original film, Wan has directed both sequels and seen his work materialize into spin-off films like Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation. Not one to ever stop working, Wan is currently working on the next film in The Conjuring universe, The Nun. Set to be released this fall, Wan and company have released the first trailer for the upcoming horror film.
Wan’s newest film centers around a nun with a suspicious past and a novitiate nearing her final vows who are sent into investigate a suicide in Romania. On the journey to uncover the truth, the two meet their biggest obstacle. In order to find the truth, they must go head to head with a demonic nun balancing between the living and the hell beneath them.
Led by Demian Bichir, the cast will include Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hope, Ingrid Bisu, and Bonnie Aarons. The film’s script will come from Gary Dauberman, who worked with Wan on the tr films. Dauberman also played a major role in writing It. The film is set to be released just in time for Halloween on September 7th. Check out the first trailer above.
