It looks like ‘The Maze Runner’ is getting a sequel!
The films director, Wes Ball, confirmed the follow up movie ‘The Scorched Trials’ is in the early stages of production to BuzzFeed weeks before the first film actually hit theaters.
We’ve got stages, we’ve got crews coming in, Dylan will be back in a few weeks, we’re building sets, and the script is being written”, said Ball. “It’s a bit of a race this time because we’re cautiously optimistic, but we’re feeling excited we’re about to do something that’s way more sophisticated, way more grown up, and really set up a saga here.”
It will follow a boy who wakes up in a mysterious maze with other kids with no memory of who they were before. They have to work together to solve the maze and save their lives. It is based on the best selling novel of the same name written by James Dashner.
Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dexter Darden and Kaya Scodelario star in the film.
‘The Maze Runner’ will hit theaters on September 19.
