Netflix has picked up The Lovebirds starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani. The film was set to be released by Paramount next month, but was pulled after the three biggest movie theater chains closed down.
Directed bu Michael Showalter, the film follows the story of a couple played by Rae and Nanijani. Nearing a breakup, the two become bound together when they both witness a crime before fleeing the scene. From there, they embark on a bizarre and comedic murder mystery.
The Lovebirds is the first film to land at a streaming service after being pulled by a major movie studio. Alongside The Lovebirds, A Quiet Place II and Blue Story were also pulled by Paramount.
