CinemaCon is in full swing this week as a number of big announcements and reveals have been made. Warner Brothers took over the convention today as they highlighted their upcoming films. Most notably, they dropped a poster (pictured below) of Todd Phillips’ upcoming take on the clown prince of crime, The Joker.

That wasn’t all though as Phillips also shared a trailer for the film a day ahead of its public release. We obviously don’t have any of that footage but, if the reaction of those in attendance is to be believed, the trailer plays out like a modern-day Taxi Driver. In all fairness though, there are usually at least three films a year donned “the next Taxi Driver.”
However, Phillips comments on-stage after the trailer lend this take some credibility. “I don’t have a lot to say about the film, as it’s still taking shape, but also because I want it to be a surprise. That said, there’s been a lot of chatter about what this film is and what it isn’t, and most of it hasn’t been accurate,” the director said. “When the marketing department at Warners asked me the other day to describe the movie, I said ‘I can’t.’ They said at least tell us the genre, and I thought about it for a minute and said, ‘It’s a tragedy.'”
Either way, I know everyone here at Def Pen is more than excited for the film. So, be sure to check back in here tomorrow to see the trailer.
