Ansel Elgort, star of The Fault In Our Stars, has signed on to play the title role in Van Cliburn.
The film is based on the Howard Reich book Van Cliburn, and Elgort will play the pianist in his formative years when, at the age of 23 in 1958, he won the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Mosco.
The film will be produced by Ari Daniel Pinchot, with Robert M. Johnson serving as executive producer.
Wyck Godfrey will direct from a script written by Andrew Stern.
Ansel Elgort was previously seen in the Divergent.
He is currently filming the Divergent sequel, Insurgent and can be seen in The Fault In Our Stars, which is in theaters.
