The Chicago Bulls are looking to add a star player this off season to pair with the former MVP Derrick Rose, and The Bulls have been rumored to be willing to trade anyone it takes to get their hands on one. The players they’re rumored to be looking at are none other than Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love. With Taj Gibson, Joakim Noah, and Jimmy Butler The Bulls can package some nice players if they do think they can get either of those players.
The Bulls have the pieces to trade, but I am baffled at the thought of Chicago trading Joakim Noah with the season he had in Rose’s absence last season. Noah really came into his own for Chicago while establishing himself as the heart and soul of the team and guiding them to the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. Considering the East is such a weak conference it’s not impressive on paper, but if you look at the injuries coach Tom Thibodeau had to deal with and losing Luol Deng to a trade mid-season the odds were stacked against him and the organization.
If The Bulls think they’re going to add a superstar this off-season they’ll need to get creative due to cap space. Chicago has been rumored to try and lure Carmelo Anthony, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make a run at LeBron James as well if he does opt-out on June 29th. Another player I can see Chicago going after hard if either of those do not come to Chicago is Kevin Love. It has been rumored for the past season or two that Love wants out of Minnesota and he finally may be getting his wish with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2016 season. Like Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love just wants to play for a contender and I don’t think they can get Love in a trade they’ll do everything they can to make Minnesota think long and hard about a deal.
The one contract that has their hands tied would be Carlos Boozer’s $16 million dollar contract hanging over their head for next season. It could be easy to trade with it being the last year of his contract, but it’ll have to happen sooner rather then later. No matter what Chicago does though they will use every asset possible to get a player they feel can help bring a championship, but the biggest question is can their true star player come back and play at a high level after playing in 49 games the past two seasons? One thing we can count on though is that this Bulls roster will not look the same come October.
