Stan Lee, a co-founder of Marvel Comics and creator of many of the company’s most popular heroes tragically passed away earlier this year. He was best known in recent years as a mainstay in the MCU, appearing in a cameo every Marvel film since Iron Man. And though he will surely live on as long as Marvel releases films, he’ll now live on on the small screen as well.
Deadline is reporting that a new animated series centering on Lee, The Amazing Stan, will be announced at San Diego Comic-Con. The Amazing Stan will feature a young version of the iconic figure as a young boy in the modern-day. In the series, Lee and his friends will “learn to take risks, explore new ideas, and never, ever give up.” Sounds exactly like the Stan we all loved to me.
Scott Peterson is developing the series for Pure Imagination Studios and POW! Entertainment. Chief Content Officer at Pure Imagination, John P. Roberts and Sanjee Gupta came up with the concept for the animated series.
Roberts released a statement regarding the series. “It is an honor to help carry on the creative legacy of one of the greatest storytellers that pop culture has ever known by introducing an original animated adventure series featuring a new cast of characters for kids and adults to connect with. Stan Lee turned his childhood daydreams into a universe that features superheroes that have resonated with generations of all ages and cultures. Now his millions of fans can look forward to seeing him appear as an animated version of his younger self for the very first time.”
