The biggest night in Hollywood is set to take place tomorrow when the 91st Academy Awards air, but we are already learning about the biggest films of next year. According to a report from Deadline, Tessa Thompson is set to star in a 1960’s era jazz love film alongside Nnamdi Asomugha called Sylvie.
The plot is described as a unique and touching love story. As reported, the movie “follows Sylvie (Thompson) who meets aspiring saxophonist Robert (Asomugha) when he takes a job at her father’s record store in Harlem.” Later, the film’s description states, “After a summer romance that comes to an end, the two fatefully reconnect several years later and find that their feelings for each other have never disappeared.”
Thompson will also serve as an executive producer for the film. Joining her, Eugene Ashe of Homecoming is set to direct the film based on a screenplay he wrote.
There’s no set date on when the film will be released, but it will undoubtedly come during a busy time for Thompson. This year, the actress will star in a new season of Westworld, Men In Black: International, Lady and The Tramp and possibly another Creed film. Adding another project will definitely keep her more than busy.
