If you know me, you know that I am a big fan of what the Boston Celtics are doing at the moment. THIS is rebuilding done right. A pivotal season passed for the C’s, making the Playoffs out of nowhere. That was great progress that nobody expected, they changed their roster on two occasions during that season and made a surge to become legit again.
Now is the time to, build on that and all the Celtics are pushing to get better. Except a Terry Rozier who has been recovering from a knee injury. But, he’s been making the effort and is trying to get back in the mix.
Celtics coach Brad Stevens, who before Monday’s game said this was a big week for Rozier after missing two games last week due to the knee injury, thought Rozier was clearly the most energetic player on the court and joked he probably could have logged another 20 minutes of full-throttle action.
“I like to push, that’s just me,” said Rozier. “I know the veterans used to say at the first couple of practices like, ‘Slow down, slow down.’ That was just me, I can’t help it. Whether the other team scored or missed, I want to push it. And I try to get layups. I feel like that can be our best offense before we try to set up a play.”
Rozier knows this week is a chance for him to make a statement before the regular season arrives, but he’s not overthinking it.
“Just keep working. Practice tells everything. If you are working hard in practice, it’ll carry over to the game,” said Rozier. “I know I’ve got a lot of good guys in my [guard] spots. It’s not going to ever stop me from working hard, that’s just me. I’m always going to cheer them on if they’re playing, and if I get my opportunity, I’m going to be out there.“
If Rozier proves to be good, that means that I will see less Avery Bradley. Seriously how has Bradley managed to keep his role all this time? Other than defensive talent what can he do? He isn’t Tony Allen, I hope Rozier impresses, but it’ll be hard to get point guard time with Marcus Smart and Isaiah Thomas in front of him.
