With the 2017 NBA Draft inching closer and closer in the coming weeks, potential draftees are getting their workouts in to boost their draft stocks with teams everywhere. While most players have at least put in their required one-year of college ball, some players went the more untraditional route to get to the NBA.
One of those players is shooting guard Terrance Ferguson who opted to play overseas in Australia as opposed to going to college. As for his decision, Ferguson has no regrets about not playing college basketball and even has some blunt words for his thoughts on college basketball.

It’s a rip-off.
“At college, the only people making money off you are the coaches,” said Ferguson, who chose to play professionally in Australia straight out of high school. “You’re not making anything off your jersey sales, ticket sales. Not anything. So go overseas, the way I did, and get your money’s worth. Get paid for what you’re doing.”
In the past, players have opted to go overseas like Denver Nuggets point guard Emmanual Mudiay and former Milwaukee Buck Brandon Jennings, who exploded onto the scene during his rookie season. Ferguson also thinks playing overseas has made him more prepared than anyone else.
“I’m way more prepared than any college player,” Ferguson said. “A college player is coming in thinking he’s the man. After you’ve sat on the bench (on a pro team), they’re not going to like that. I’ve already faced that overseas. I overcome that, so I have the right mindset coming into the league.
