On Sunday, June 22, 2025, WBA Super Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford and undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will meet for their first joint U.S. press conference at the Javits Center in New York, New York.
Crawford and Alvarez will meet in the Empire State as they build toward a mega fight on September 13, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Having beaten Israil Madrimov to claim the WBA Super Welterweight Championship last summer, Crawford will enter the ring as a four-division champion with a record of 41-0 to go along with 31 knockouts. His opponent, Alvarez, has an equally impressive record of 63-2-2 with 39 knockouts. Alvarez last fought on May 3, 2025, beating William Scull by unanimous decision to return the IBF Super Middleweight Championship belt back to his trophy case.
The press conference will be held in the Empire State during Fanatics Fest, a multi-day celebration of sports, culture and fandom. The three-day event will feature a live taping of ESPN’s First Take, Uninterrupted’s The Shop with LeBron James and a pop-up edition of Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s 40/40 Club. Last year’s event reportedly attracted 70,000 fans and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin says this year’s edition will be “bigger and better.”
“Seeing the pure joy, excitement and enthusiasm from all the fans who attended our first event last summer was absolutely incredible and I could not be more excited to bring Fanatics Fest back to New York City this June,” Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin said when the event was announced. “We’re going bigger and better next year, adding hundreds of athletes and celebrities to the roster, blowing out the event space to add many more interactive experiences from the top leagues and teams, creating more opportunities for fans and collectors to meet their favorite athletes, more exclusive product drops and overall taking the entire event to a new level. June can’t come fast enough!”
