If there has been anyone who has lost in 2018, it is definitely Tekashi 6ix9ine. The New York rapper is currently facing up to life in federal prison for firearm and racketeering charges. The Brooklyn native is currently sitting in prison awaiting a September 2019 trial. In an attempt to get the rapper out of federal custody until his 2019 trial date, Tekashi’s legal team has put together a one million dollar bail package. Unfortunately, the initial bail proposal was denied in court. However, the rapper’s legal team is not giving up on the possibility of bail without a fight.
According to a report from TMZ, Tekashi’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, is working to put together a $1.5 million bail package. TMZ reports, “We’re told the plan is to ask the court to set 69’s bail at $1.5 million, and Lazarro will also make the case that Tekashi’s not a danger to the community nor is he a flight risk.” There is no timetable on when his legal team will present this new bail package, but it will likely come at the top of 2019. In the meantime, Tekashi will be held in a New York correctional facility. More details will be reported as they become available to the media.
