Despite the rumors, it appears that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins will be staying with the team. Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin has no interest in trading the dynamic ad talented wide receiver despite his contract extension coming up. He was even quoted saying: “That’s their problem. They want a receiver, go find your own. In my opinion, Tee Higgins is a good piece for the Cincinnati Bengals, so the trade stuff is a little ridiculous right now.” This seems to indicate that the team plans to figure out a long-term deal for the veteran.

In his fairly impassioned press conference that brought up Tee Higgins, Duke Tobin also said the following: “I’m not in the business of making other teams better. I’m in the business of making the Cincinnati Bengals better, so, trading Tee Higgins is not on my mind. This press conference took place ahead of the NFL Combine where teams not only scout young players but also begin making moves for future trades. It appears that teams will have to adjust their expectations when it comes to adding a top wide receiver during this offseason.
This past season with the Cincinnati Bengals, Higgins caught 74 passes for 1,029 yards and seven touchdowns on 109 targets. He is undoubtedly one of the team’s best players and keeping him should be a priority. The issue is quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will also be extension-eligible in the next few seasons. Maintaining a Super Bowl contender could prove tough in the next few seasons.
