Tech 9, born Akhiym Mickens, died on March 24 at the age of 32.
According to Philly Mag, the Philadelphia battle rapper’s death, which was unclear at the time, has now been determined as a suicide.
First deputy coroner Alexander Balacki says Tech 9’s death was a suicide and the “specific cause of death was an overdose of diphenhydramine, the common antihistamine.”
The battle rapper was scheduled to be arraigned on child porn charges the day after his death. Philly Mag reports, Tech 9 was supposed to have a hearing in “Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas on charges of child pornography, indecent assault, indecent exposure, and corruption of minors.”
Court documents revealed that he had been arrested on January 5 for reportedly assaulting the daughter of his girlfriend.
