With the Olympics officially underway after last night’s opening ceremony, the athletes of Team USA are preparing to make their mark on these games. The USA Men’s Basketball team, given their popularity and unavoidable height, will have a hard time not being spotted out in the city.
According to TMZ Sports, USA Men’s Basketball Team members DeMar DeRozan, DeAndre Jordan, and DeMarcus Cousins entered an establishment in Rio thinking that it was a spa. It turns out the spot was a brothel.
TMZ sources claim that no purchases were made, and once the players realized where they were, they got up out of there.
Not exactly the kind of attention Team USA wants during these Olympics, but clearly an honest mistake. Perhaps there should be some kind of liaison assigned to clarify these sort of things for the players. Not that grown men and women should need a chaperone, but navigating a foreign city can be risky for anyone. I’m sure something simple will be done to help ensure that we don’t see USA Basketball players at any more brothels in Rio during the Olympics.
