I smell Oscar nomination all over this. When it was first announced that Taraji P. Henson would be a civil rights activist fighting for the rights of school children in the South vs. a KKK leader in Sam Rock well, you could tell that this movie had the makings to be something special.
The trailer released today and gives us a good look at what we can expect from the film that’s based on a true story:
Civil rights activist Ann Atwater faces off against C.P. Ellis, Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan, in 1971 Durham, North Carolina over the issue of school integration. Like I said earlier, this has all the marks of becoming an Oscar contender. 2 Oscar-nominated stars in Henson and Rockwell, along with the talents of director Robin Bissell make this an intriguing film to watch for.
The movie will be in theatres April 5th of next year.
