In the summer of 1989, two young black people from the Southside of Chicago, who were looking to change their environments for the better met for the first time. The two going by the names of Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson. On this specific day in 1989, Barack proposed to take an unwilling Michelle on their first date, a day that would go down in history as the day that formed one of the greatest couples in American history. Just three years before the two make 30 years together, and the Obama’s last year in the White House, Richard Tanne will be bringing us on their very first date. Barack and Michelle spent this day getting to know one another, spent time at the Art Institute of Chicago and later on in the day, an early screen of Spike Lee’s classic, “Do The Right Thing”. Parker Sawyer and Tika Sumpter will portray the Obama’s and the film will be out August 19.
