T.I. and Ebenezer Baptist Church have teamed up to end mass imprisonment. The rapper and Martin Luther King Jr.’s home church are coming together for a three-day conference at the historic church in Atlanta.
According to the Associated Press, Rev. Raphael Warnock said in a statement that the End Mass Incarceration Conference will take place from June 17 through June 19.
Warnock says the goals of the conference include, “helping communities to fight the rise of the prison industrial complex in the United States and systems that unfairly imprison people of color.”
T.I. will assist the church in bailing out dozens of poor and working-class citizens in Atlanta, out of jail.
The Root also reports that Warnock, T.I., and the Central Park Five (now The Exonerated Five), held a press conference Sunday to kick off the conference.
