Syfy has given a straight to series order for a Chucky television series spin-off. As expected, the series will follow the events and actions of Chucky, a freckled faced doll that is best known for his murderous tendencies.
Chucky will be produced by Universal Content Productions under the leadership of the original franchise creators, Dan Mancini and David Kirschner. Harley Peyton and Nick Antosca will also contribute to the project.
“The character Don and David created has terrified audiences for over 30 years. The longevity and legacy of Chucky speaks to the creative storytelling and the loyal fans the film series has collected over the years,” said USA and Syfy Entertainment Networks President Chris McCumber.
“We are excited to once again partner with Nick and UCP on this new Syfy series, and are incredibly proud to bring Chucky to television for the first time with the original creators,” he added.
The series will join Syfy’s original lineup that includes Resident Alien, Wynonna Earp, Vagrant Queen, Van Helsing and The Magicians. There is no release date for the series as of yet.
