Update (08-02-2019 1:43PM EST): A$AP Rocky and codefendants are temporarily released from Swedish custody. The Associated Press reports the Swedish courts have ruled that A$AP Rocky can be freed from detention until Aug. 14, when the verdict on the assault case will be announced.
Original Story: A$AP Rocky has been demanded to stay in prison for six months by a Swedish prosecutor. A$AP Rocky pleaded not guilty to an assault that occurred in Stockholm back in June.
The Harlem rapper is accused of hitting and kicking 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari. Prosecutors allege that Rocky and two companions purposely attacked Jafari.
According to CNN, prosecutor Daniel Suneson told the Stockholm District Court on Friday, he has evidence that the accused were not defending themselves in the incident. He insists that because of this, they cannot claim self-defense. He stated, “The three should be convicted of assault according to my description of events.”
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been in custody since July 3.
More details about this case are developing.
