New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft may be ready to accept the penalties levied by the NFL, however Tom Brady won’t go down without a fight. An appeal to reduce Brady’s four game suspension has been set for June 23rd.
Brady was hit with the suspension after an NFL investigation found that he was “at least generally aware” that footballs were being illegally deflated during the AFC championship game. The four time Super Bowl champion has hired attorney Jeffery Kessler to advocate his case.
Kessler is no rookie when it comes to dealing with the NFL as he has previously negotiated the current free agency/salary cap system in the NFL, successfully represented Michael Vick in his roster bonus arbitration in 2008, and represented Plaxico Burress in his 2009 signing bonus arbitration.
The only other time in his career that Brady missed significant time during the season was when he went down in the 2008 season opener with an ACL tear.
Jimmy Garoppolo will be filling in for any time that Brady misses this season. Garoppolo is 19 for 27 with 182 yards and a touchdown in six NFL appearances.
