Susan Sarandon has confirmed that there has been talk of a sequel to Thelma & Louise – but added that the proposed ideas have been “ridiculous.”
The actress starred alongside Geena Davis in the iconic 1991 film, and recently reunited to recreate the movie’s famous selfie.
Speaking with WENN, Saradon said:
I’d love to work with Geena again. They had kind of knocked around ideas for a sequel for Thelma & Lousie, but they were so ridiculous.
I remember saying, ‘What would we do?’ And they said, ‘You’d collect a big check!’
She continued:
I don’t know how you would resurrect them. I mean, I love Geena. It as great to see her, and we had a nice day together. But at the moment, I don’t know what that would be.
It would have to something sitting down, because when we stand up , she’s a foot taller than I am. That’s why the car [in Thelma & Louise] worked, because we were kind of on the same level sitting in it.
I’m shrinking and she’s still 6’1.
Both Sarandon and Davis earned Best Actress Oscar nominations for the performance in the Ridley Scott film, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
