A Grand Jury went through a review and now felony aggravated assault charges have been filed against Phoenix Suns twin forwards, Marcus and Markieff Morris.
The duo were under investigation for a January 24 incident (you know, the middle of the NBA season) where the twins and three other men allegedly assaulted Erik Hood at a recreational basketball tournament in the local Phoenix area. The motivation behind the attack allegedly stemmed from Hood sending “inappropriate” text messages to the mother of the Morris twins.
Following from ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne.
After the (rec league) game, police say Hood was confronted by (Julius) Kane and struck from behind on the head by (Christopher) Melendez. Hood tried to run to his car but had been dazed by the initial blow to the head and fell to the ground, where he was then repeatedly punched and kicked by all five suspects. The assault was witnessed by a 27-year-old woman, who had attended the game with Hood.
Hood was taken to the emergency room at Phoenix Baptist Hospital where he was treated for a broken nose, bruises and abrasions.
Guess the twins get the same treatment for everything beyond a joint contract.
No new statement has been released from the Phoenix Suns or the Morris twins since the charges have been formally charged but the brothers have previously denied knowing Hood or having any involvement with the incident.
