The Phoenix Suns have hired Utah Jazz assistant coach Igor Kososkov to be their new head coach on a three-year deal, the team announced Wednesday:

The Phoenix Suns are hiring Utah Jazz assistant Igor Kokoskov as their new head coach, league sources tell ESPN. Kokoskov, a native of Serbia, will be the first European born head coach in the NBA.

Kokoskov spent 2008 to 2013 in an assistant role with the Suns. Now, he’s their head coach. He is the first head coach in NBA history to have been born outside of North America.
Kokoskov, 46, had been an assistant in Utah since 2015. Prior to that job, he held assistant-coaching positions with the Suns, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Detroit Pistons.
