The Phoenix Suns are shopping most of their veterans, especially P.J. Tucker, reports ESPN’s Zach Lowe:
Phoenix is taking calls on most of its veterans, with P.J. Tucker the best candidate to move, sources say. (Watch the Raptors and Clips, among others.) I’d be surprised — and impressed — if Phoenix got a first-rounder for him.
Other veterans that the Suns could be looking to move include Tyson Chandler, Jared Dudley and Brandon Knight (though at age 25, Knight is less of a “veteran” than the others).
The Suns have interest in trading for Utah Jazz big man Derrick Favors, reports Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune:
Elsewhere, the Phoenix Suns have expressed interest in talking to the Jazz about Derrick Favors, Utah’s starting power forward, sources say.
Favors has been hampered by injuries this season, but he’s an excellent player who could be part of the Jazz’s core going forward. However, the Jazz have another skilled power forward on their roster; Trey Lyles. With Rudy Gobert holding down the paint, the Jazz could decide that keeping Lyles’ floor-spacing ability would be more prudent than Favors’ back-to-the-basket offense. Plus, Lyles is four years younger than Favors.
It’s a surprise to see the Suns going after Favors, given that they already have three talented young big men: Marquese Chriss, Dragan Bender and Alex Len.
