A weird twist of fate finds Thunder center Steven Adams somehow breaking the same hand as Russell Westbrook, the same type of injury (a break to the metacarpal-Westbrook’s was his second metacarpal, Adams broke his fourth metacarpal), both broke it going up to secure a rebound for their team against the Clippers, both instances were on national TV and both players immediately knew something was wrong based off their reactions.

Adams’ Injury
Props to Adams for shooting the free throws left-handed.
That’s the weirdest thing so far this season, related to an injury.
The Thunder managed to survive the loss of Adams from the game and stayed strong to secure a big win over a Clippers team that finds itself full of injury problems, none bigger than the loss of their All-Star, Blake Griffin.
The loss of Adams though might go beyond the All-Star break.

Steven Adams has undergone surgery for a fractured hand and will miss at least three weeks.
Adams underwent successful surgery Monday morning at the McBride Hospital in Oklahoma City to repair the fourth metacarpal in his hand.
Adams injured his hand while jumping near the basket and hitting the back of his hand on another player’s body.
Adams seemingly would be replace by Kendrick Perkins in the starting lineup with Nick Collison playing some increased minutes. The injury to Adams might mean there would be an increase in playing time for the recent new spark for the Thunder, Rookie Mitch McGary, who scored 19 points and 10 rebounds in only his third career NBA game.
