Steve Spagnuolo has agreed to become the next Giants defensive coordinator. He will replace Perry Fewell who was fired last week. Steve does have previous expierence for the Giants helping guide their defense during the 2007 championship season. After leaving New York in 2007 he will now return in 2015. After a disapointing coaching stint in St.Louis and a job with Baltimore coaching the secondary Spags will be happy to rejoin the G men.
“I was hoping to take the next step, God willing, and be a coordinator again. I’m ecstatic that it’s with Tom Coughlin,” Spagnuolo said. “Tom is the highest-character guy I know. The feeling I have is one of excitement. We’re going to work our butts off, and hopefully we will do great things together.”
After interviewing Dennis Allen, Pepper Johnson, and Raheem Morris the Giants felt the Spagnuolo reunion was the right course of action. The Giants have a big decision on the defensive side of the ball with Jason Pierre-Paul’s pending free agency.
