With the New York Knicks off to a 1-3 start and not playing the most inspiring basketball, there’s been some speculation about the security of head coach Jeff Hornacek’s job. According to team president Steve Mills, though, that’s all it is – speculation. From Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News:
“There was speculation not on our part but by the outside world,” Mills said. “This summer, when Jeff and I went to Jim Dolan with a plan of how we wanted to build this team — and how we wanted the team to come together — and we just want to see progress. We want to try to win as many games as we can. We want the guys to play hard every night. The three of us, we’re all on the same page as it relates to that. We just want to see the team move in a positive direction.”
Mills wants to see progress being made:
“We want to make sure we’re growing as a team and we’re doing the things that we said we were going to do over the summer,” Mills said. “As long as we’re doing those things, we’ll continue to build this group.”
Hornacek’s job safety was in doubt partially because he was hired by Phil Jackson, who is no longer with the organization.
