Steve Kerr has the dream job and probably the best start to a coaching career I’ve ever seen. He started his career with the Golden State Warriors this year as their head coach, leading them to the best start in franchise history (18-2) and having the best NBA record as January finishes (33-6). Now to top that off, he will be coaching the Western Conference All-Star Team In New York. He will join Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer, who will be coaching the Eastern Conference All-Stars. Steve Kerr is the first coach since Larry Bird in 1998 to get the nods in his first year of coaching.
Coach Kerr has made this Golden State Warriors team a legitimate contender, by changing the environment and their defensive focus. He moved David Lee and Andre Iguodala out of the starting lineup and inserting Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes, a move that has worked beautifully. Seeing Steve Kerr’s coaching style, I don’t personally think he cares much about the game, other than the fact that it is a GREAT honor. He will be joining some of the coaching legends as an All-Star coach, and it is his rookie season as a coach. Great way to start off a coaching career.
