Steve Kerr has been unable to lead his team from the sidelines this season. The Golden State Warriors’ head coach had back surgery in the offseason and is continuing to recover from the injury. With the Warriors doing historically well and with Kerr having stayed away from the sidelines for so long, there has been some talk about him not coaching at all this season. Kerr, however, expects to be back at some point:
Asked Kerr if there was ever a thought he might miss the whole season. Kerr: "I don't think that way at all. I think I'll be back…

More Kerr: "I don't know exactly when, but I think I will be back coaching again this season." Said this home stand will be a good measure.

From these quotes, it seems as though Kerr has recovered well and may be back to coaching the team soon. Obviously with the Warriors 24-1 record, there is no rush for Kerr to come back without fully recovering. However, eventually the team will have to get used to Kerr’s coaching again as they prepare for the playoffs.
In regards to that great start for the Warriors, Kerr had some jokes about the team and interim head coach Luke Walton:
Kerr on Luke Walton's performance as interim coach: "I thought we'd go 25-0 to be honest with you." (Laughs.)

SK: "I sent him text after the Milwaukee game; I said, 'What the hell are you doing? You have no idea what you're doing, do you?' Joking!"

Kerr’s sense of humor seems to be exactly where we left it and his spirits seem to be high. Then again, coming back to a historically good team sometime in the near future has a way of putting one in a good mood.
