
Current Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will be the next coach for the United States national team as Gregg Popovich steps down from the position, according to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN. Phoenix Suns Monty Williams, Miami Heat Erik Spoelstra, and Gonzaga Mark Few will be a part of the coaching staff for the next competitions.
USA Basketball is finalizing a decision to name Steve Kerr as the next national coach with an assistant coaching staff that will include Monty Williams, Erik Spoelstra and Mark Few, sources tell ESPN. A formal announcement is expected in the near future.

Popovich spent five years as the leader of the national team during which they had one of the worst presentations of the team in the 2019 World Cup finishing in seventh place. Later, they won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics with Steve Kerr being a part of the staff as an assistant coach.
He will now be in charge of the next Olympic cycle of Paris 2024 and the World Cup that is set to be in 2023 that will be hosted by Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines. In November, Team USA played in the first window of the World Cup qualifiers with a win against Cuba and a loss against Mexico.
Recently, Team USA also announced Cheryl Reeve to assume as the women’s national coach.
