The Golden State Warriors continued their winning ways on Saturday, annihilating the Phoenix Suns 138-109. In the Warriors’ latest victory, Kevin Durant scored just 20 points (he averages 27.3 points per game for the season), but got his 20 on astounding efficiency: He made five of his seven field goal attempts, connected on his sole three-point attempt, and knocked down all nine of his free throw attempts. Durant is one of the most efficient scorers in NBA history, and even his head coach has to marvel at the ease with which he scores.
At the post-game press conference, Steve Kerr said “He falls out of bed and gets 20,” about Durant.
Kerr is lucky enough to be coaching two of the most astoundingly efficient scorers to ever pick up a basketball.
Durant is having a tremendous season for the Warriors, shooting 56.2% from the field, 42.9% from deep, and 87.1% from the foul line. Stephen Curry is averaging 26.9 points per game on .496/.424/.926 shooting.
20 games into the season, the Warriors have a 17-3 record and have now won 13 of their last 14 games. The lead the NBA in a great number offensive statistical categories: Points per game, offensive rating, percentage of baskets assisted on, assist-turnover ratio, and true shooting percentage.
