Less than a week to go until the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is a matchup that is bound for entertainment. Stephen Curry, LeBron James, possibly Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson?
As we all know Thompson is out due to a concussion he suffered in the Warriors’ Western Conference clincher against the Houston Rockets. There are questions as to whether Klay will be there for game 1. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has no doubt that Thompson will suit up.
“I’m anticipating he’s going to be there,” Kerr said.
Asked what his options are if Thompson can’t play, Kerr responded: “I haven’t even thought about it. The series is like five weeks away. We have plenty of time to think about that.”
He later said backups Leandro Barbosa and Justin Holiday would be the most likely options if Thompson isn’t cleared to play – though he doesn’t believe that’ll be the case.
“I expect him there,” Kerr repeated.
Well that was definitive.
I have a feeling that Thompson will miss the first game but hey maybe if he rests until a couple of days before game 1, there might be a chance. Maybe a minutes restriction is in order.
