
The BIG3 is an eight-team professional basketball league that will begin on June 25th at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York. Throughout the course of the season, teams travel to ten different cities playing in quadruple headers every Sunday. Fox Sports has also landed broadcast rights and will air the games the following night every Monday, as well as live broadcasting the championship on Saturday, August 26th.
The BIG3 games will consist of both highly skilled and competitive matchups in an enjoyable form of 3-on-3 basketball. This league will also feature professional basketball’s first four-point shot while the first team to score 60 wins the game.
On March 27th, the BIG3 announced the additions of Steve Francis, DeShaun Stevenson, Joe Smith, Kendall Gill, Jumaine Jones, Ronald Murray, Donte Green, Hakim Warrick and Mike Sweetney to the league’s player draft pool.
The others players who were already enrolled in the 2017 BIG3 draft consist of: Kenny Anderson, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Larry Hughes, Latrell Sprewell, Earl Boykins, Keith Bogans, Josh Childress, Marcus Banks, Smush Parker, Brian Cooks, Brian Scalabrine, James White, Reggie Evans, Derrick Byars, Ndudi Ebi, Mike James, Voshon Lenard, Xavier Silas, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Lee Nailon, Ruben Patterson, Shane Heal, Lawrence Moten, Mike James, Ivan Johnson, Jamario Moon, Rashad McCants, Etan Thomas, J.R. Rider, Andre Owens and Eddie Robinson.
The BIG3 player captions include some former big NBA names such as Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Kenyon Martin, Mike Bibby, Jason Williams, Jermaine O’Neal and others. Each captain must draft three players from the draft pool that will be held in April following a player combine in which all the players participate in scrimmages, drills and conditioning workouts. The coaching lineup will consist of former legends of the game such as Julius Erving, Clyde Drexler, Rick Barry, George Gervin, Gary Payton, Charles Oakley and others.
