The New York Giants will be without wide receiver Sterling Shepard for the rest of the season after he suffered a torn ACL on Monday Night Football. This unfortunate injury happened in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys on a non-contact injury. The game was already basically a victory for Dallas and now the team will be without one of their top wide receivers. Head Coach Brian Daboll confirmed the torn ACL on Tuesday.
Giants’ HC Brian Daboll told reporters that WR Sterling Shepard did in fact tear his ACL.

This season for the New York Giants, Sterling Shepard caught 13 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown on 24 targets. Now his year is over after just three games played in the 2022 NFL season. The New York Giants receiving core is fairly injured this year and now the team has lost a player they could have easily considered their top wideout. Replacing his production could be a tall task for the team moving forward with the current roster.
Gutted over the Sterling Shepard news. Many players have since relayed an important message to me over the past 12 hours: Every NFL stadium NEEDS natural grass. We KNOW it’s much safer. Specifically, players have a 28% higher rate of non-contact lower extremity injuries on turf.

The New York Giants have started the season at 2-1 despite many predicting a worse start to the season. This injury to Sterling Shepard could set them back, but they are still firmly in the NFC East race for now. Time will tell on how well they recover from the loss of their talented top wide receiver. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Shepard the best in his recovery and return to the field.
