Mr. Mercedes is the latest Stephen King novel to be adapted for television.
The 2014 best-selling novel will be turned into a limited serious by production company, Sonar Entertainment.
David E. Kelley [Ally McBeal and Boston Legal] has signed on to write the show, while Jack Bender [Lost] will direct.
Mr. Mercedes centers around a retired cop aiming to catch a murderer responsible for taking the lives of several people after driving his Mercedes into a crowd.
Speaking about the project, Kelley said:
“This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the world’s most acclaimed and accomplished authors.
Mr. Mercedes is a great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I don’t mess it up.”
King added:
“I’ve admire Jack Bender’s work for years, both as a director on Lost and later Under the Dome, where he really caught the surprise element.
David Kelley is incredibly gifted. I’m excited to work with these amazing talents.”
