An ankle injury has come back to haunt Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry after he seemed to all but escaped them following early career scares. The two-time NBA MVP and two-time NBA champion went down with an ankle injury late in the Warriors December 4th win over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Warriors are playing it safe and haven’t missed him much, reeling off five wins in a row.
It now appears that Curry will continue to miss time for the team heading into the Warriors Christmas Day matchup. For the third year in a row, the Warriors are matching up against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Curry will miss the game. Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Isaiah Thomas will also not return in time for the game.
Curry was re-evaluated Tuesday by the Warriors’ medical staff. The ankle is “healing well” and Curry is “making good progress” but it will be at least another week before he’s evaluated again, according to the team.
