Two of the most discussed and analyzed superstars not only in the NBA but all of professional sports, LeBron James and Stephen Curry have more in common than just three straight finals appearances.
Both Curry and LeBron have dominated NBA jersey sales over the past few seasons and with both still firmly in their prime, we shouldn’t expect that to change anytime soon. The NBA unveiled their jersey sales from this past season, ranging from last October to this April.
Stephen Curry came in first for the third consecutive year while LeBron James unsurprisingly came right behind him at second. In third is another Warrior in superstar forward Kevin Durant which also shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Rounding out the top five are Eastern Conference standouts Giannis Anteotkounpo and Kyrie Irving. The entire top 15 which the NBA revealed follows:
1.) Stephen Curry
2.) LeBron James
3.) Kevin Durant
4.) Giannis Antetokounmpo
5.) Kyrie Irving
6.) Russell Westbrook
7.) Kristaps Porzingis
8.) Joel Embiid
9.) James Harden
10.) Ben Simmons
11.) Kawhi Leonard
12.) Lonzo Ball
13.) Damian Lillard
14.) Klay Thompson
15.) Jimmy Butler
Compared to last year’s top-selling jerseys, this list contains a healthy amount of new names and for good reason.
After being an afterthought in years past, the Philadelphia 76ers have exploded onto the scene thanks to their young duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Both of them being up there in jersey sales should only continue to be the case for years to come.
The top three of Curry, James, and Durant remain the exact same from last year and likely won’t change next year either barring something drastic. Kawhi Leonard still being on the cusp of top ten in jersey sales is also interesting considering the uncertainty of his future as a San Antonio Spur, but other than that this is largely what the NBA populace should’ve expected.
