Golden State Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry is targeting to make his return in the team’s game against Atlanta on Friday, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes and Ramona Shelburne. Golden State will look to rebound from their loss to San Antonio where they scored just 75 points.
The two-time MVP will have his right ankle re-evaluated on Tuesday. If the evaluation reveals enough progress and there are no unforeseen setbacks from this point to Friday, the sharpshooter intends to play after missing the past six games, sources said.
Curry will have two full days of practice and a shootaround before Friday’s game. Golden State is 2-4 in his absence.
Curry twisted his ankle against the San Antonio Spurs on March 8, a recurring injury in the two-time MVP’s career. He’s also suffered multiple different injuries on the same ankle throughout the season.
Curry hasn’t traveled with the team since the injury, staying in Oakland to receive around-the-clock treatment from head performance therapist Chelsea Lane, according to ESPN.
The Warriors currently hold a 53-18 record and sit over three games behind the No. 1 seed Houston Rockets. The team is seeking its third straight championship and fourth straight NBA Finals appearance this spring.
