Stephen Curry has been on a steal of a contract for 4 years, only making an average of $11 million a year. While this is a lot of money, based on Curry’s performance the Warriors are getting a steal. Sadly, the contract runs out this off-season, and the Golden State Warriors are going to be forced to offer Steph a max contract.
Last summer, max contracts were being given out left and right. This upcoming summer, the back-to-back MVP will surely make max money. It is expected that the Warriors will offer him this, and recently he commented on re-signing with the Wall Street Journal:
Although he says “curveballs happen all the time,” it should relieve millions of people in the Bay Area that Curry feels that he is home. “It’s hard to see myself anywhere else,” he says.
Steph has plenty of reasons to stay in the Bay Area. First, he was drafted there and started a family there. Second, his team is likely to win the NBA Finals this year and just added Kevin Durant to the team. Lastly, the Warriors are able to offer Curry more money than any other team. There really was no reason for Curry to leave, and he will definitely be looking to stay put this summer.
