As the NBA season winds down, the Most Valuable Player discussions have ramped up more and more by the day. Players like LeBron James, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook have all caught the eyes of viewers this season because of their outstanding on-court performances.
While the MVP discussions are mostly done by fans and media seldom do we get to hear current NBA players weigh in on who they think deserves the award. However, two-time MVP award winner Stephen Curry gave his pick for MVP this season.
Curry, who was adamant at first, told Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show that his MVP pick was James Harden of the Houston Rockets. Curry’s reasoning for picking Harden was based on the Rockets overall record and suggested team success has historically had a lot to do with the MVP award.
As for Harden this season, he is averaging 29.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 11.2 assists, shooting 44.3 percent from the floor and the Rockets have a record of 46-21. Harden has a very strong case for this year’s MVP and getting a cosign from a former MVP doesn’t hurt either.
