This 2015-16 Golden State Warriors team, without their head coach Steve Kerr and without a concussed starting big man in Andrew Bogut, somehow looks better than last year’s squad. Well, Stephen Curry sure does believe so.
On their way to an NBA Championship last season, the Warriors went 67-15 in the regular season with a point differential of plus-10.1 per game, which ranks up there with some of the best teams of all-time. They were easily the best team in the league last season and they should be considered one of the 10 best teams in NBA history.
Last night, the undefeated Los Angeles Clippers came into Oracle Arena and they were attempting to knock off the also undefeated Golden State Warriors. The Clippers plan early appeared to be their use of Chris Paul against the Warriors guards. Curry and reserve guard Shaun Livingston got into early foul trouble and the Clippers had an early lead against the defending NBA champions.
Curry came back and then it was all but over for the Clippers. Harrison Barnes scored 10 points in 55 seconds, Curry did his usual Stephen Curry things and Los Angeles just looked lost. The Warriors looked like the best team in the NBA last night against quite possibly the second or third best team in the NBA.
So somehow, without Kerr, Bogut and a team expected to take a drop-off after winning the title, the Warriors are 5-0 and you can’t help but agree with Curry. The Warriors do look better than they did last season.
