The Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant will host Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors tonight in what will most likely be a massacre on the hardwood.
But the matchup has given some people the thought of Stephen Curry destroying Laker hearts and have posed the question. Could Stephen Curry match Kobe’s 81?
It’s something that we have all been thinking about but nobody has asked Steph, until now.
“Not a chance,” Curry told Los Angeles News Group. “There’s a reason why people are still talking about that game to this day. It’s so special.”
“A lot of it has to do with our system and the way we play,” Curry said. “Kobe had a reason to get up as many shots as he did in the [Toronto] game. I don’t think anybody will get up 40-plus attempts no matter how hot they are.”
That would just be the icing on the cake wouldn’t it? Not just getting an 81 but with Kobe to witness it first hand. And during his farewell tour no less!
It’s fantasy this. This ain’t happening, it can’t. The Warriors don’t have the system to allow it, Curry knows that and won’t even try to go for it. Not for this game, not for any game.
