The 2017 NBA Finals have been awfully one-sided thus far. Both games have ended in blowouts favoring the home team as the Golden State Warriors have thus far shown they are head and shoulders above the league.
Nevertheless, the Warriors’ dominance should not outshine the performance of LeBron James who has largely carried the Cleveland Cavaliers in the series. His efforts, especially in game two, kept up with the Dubs for much of the game before the Warriors finally burst through to take the ultimate lead.
James’ performance was elite on Sunday, recording his eighth NBA Finals triple-double, four of which have come against the Warriors over the past three years.
Not to be outdone by James’ 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists, the Warriors’ Stephen Curry recorded a triple-double of his own, joining James in making history as the first opponents to record triple-doubles in the NBA Finals. Curry finished with 32 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.
It was a spectacular performance from both players; LeBron was aggressive from the jump to push the Warriors to further limits than in game one while Curry overcame early turnover issues to break through in the second half and catalyze the eventual win and blowout.
Here’s hoping for more ridiculous performances amidst more competitive games.
