The Golden State Warriors are one of those teams where they have to prove themselves even though they won the NBA Championship in fairly convincing fashion, other teams are there apparently ready to overtake them. Even though the 2015-16 season hasn’t begun, people are already shutting down the Warriors’ chances for a back-to-back chip.
Current MVP Stephen Curry has been looking at the early predictions based on how teams close behind them have upgraded, and he finds it funny that people have immediately put them down.
“We obviously are the champs, and you’ve got to think that we’re gonna be a better team next year with our experiences that we’ve had, and we’re not the favorites,” Curry said. “Obviously there’s been a lot of noise, teams retooling and trying to boost their lineups. You have teams that haven’t set foot on the floor yet and are heavily favored to kick us off our throne.”
“We obviously know what’s going on,” Curry said. “And it’s up to us to keep our momentum that we built.“
Some people are prisoners of the moment, and unfortunately they’re the majority. San Antonio gets Aldridge, put them over Golden State. Kevin Durant gets healthy, put them over Golden State.
It’s not just Curry that’s clocking. Draymond Green sees what you lot are doing.
“Everybody already said we’re not the favorite — we can’t do this, we can’t do that — so there will definitely be a chip (on the shoulder) there for sure,” Green said on KNBR 680-AM Wednesday night. “We’re the defending champs and everybody is counting us out already after the moves the Spurs made.”
Can we not sleep on Golden State for the second consecutive year? I didn’t and I won my prediction of the Warriors winning the Finals.
