First Take Host Stephen A. Smith is one of many fight fans who are eager to see WBO Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford challenge unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. to a fight for all the marbles in the division. On Friday, Smith went as far as to say that it is the biggest fight the sport has produced in nearly a decade.
“I think this is the biggest fight since Mayweather-Pacquiao. That’s what I believe and I’m dead serious about that” Smith told Molly Qerim.
Smith not only believes that it’s the biggest fight since Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao met in 2015, but he believes the fight will be much more exciting as well.
“I think this fight will be significantly better,” Smith explained.
“Spence and Crawford both know how to move, but they don’t necessarily back up. So, I think you can expect and anticipate to see a lot more action. There’s a mean streak in Terence Crawford that is vastly underestimated. This brother does not play and he’s coming for it, but Spence Jr. is no joke.”
Smith will be ringside on Saturday, July 29 as both men make their way to the ring. Crawford has emerged as a slight betting favorite, but all predictions and betting odds will be put to the side when the opening bell rings.
