With LeBron’s dramatic hometown return and with Kevin Durant applauding him for doing so. There is now some rumours going around about the Washington Wizards planning to go for DC born Kevin Durant in 2016.
And now according to Stephen A Smith (via The Oklahoman) KD would only leave OKC for his hometown and nowhere else.
But there are folks that I’ve spoken to that are relatively close to Kevin Durant that tell me if he were to decide to leave Oklahoma City, it would be for the nation’s capital. That’s the kind of dude he is. That’s a place that he would consider.
I certainly don’t want to sit here as a reporter and insider and try to give indications that he’s planning on leaving Oklahoma City,” Smith said. “I don’t know that to be sure. I don’t know that to be the case. But I was told that if there is a team that would be strongly considered, it is the Washington Wizards, and him returning home.
I don’t usually make anything bigger than it is but I wouldn’t put it past Durant to at least think about it.
Of course we have some time till 2016 rolls round and many things will happen in the time between now and then. But hypothetically. What if OKC are still without a ring. And Washington are one star away from being a Finals team. I’d certainly think about it.
And with the Western Conference and how packed it is, why not make a move to the East?
I’m not saying it’s a lock. I’m saying if OKC don’t have at least another Finals appearance. I guarantee Durant would think about going to DC.
