Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry is out indefinitely due to a left leg injury. He is expected to be out through the All-Star break. Curry was diagnosed with partial tears to his tibiofibular ligaments and the interosseous membrane. The injury occurred in the third quarter of the team’s 119-113 win over the Dallas Mavericks. His knee collided with the knee of Mavericks guard McKinley Wright IV while Curry was guarding him. Curry also banged his knee before that game on Thursday against the Denver Nuggets, but Head Coach Steve Kerr is unsure if the two are related. Curry’s X-ray came back negative the night of the Mavericks game.

Head Coach Steve Kerr said the following about the injury: “I didn’t know those ligaments existed. I think the main thing is he’s going to be out for a little bit. We’re going to reevaluate in a few days. And the good news is, he’s going to be back. We don’t exactly know when, but it’s not an injury that’s going to keep him out for the season. He’s going to come back this season and hopefully sooner rather than later.” This will be the second time this season that Steph Curry will miss multiple weeks due to an injury. Earlier in the season Curry missed multiple weeks due to a shoulder injury.
This season with the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry is averaging 29.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and one steal per game. He has paired those numbers with a field-goal percentage of 49.5 percent and a three-point percentage of 42.7 percent. Without Curry the Warriors will need to step up and win games until he returns.
