James Harrison just signed a contract extension that will take him into his 40’s. However, Harrison is still an extremely productive player and Pittsburgh desperately wanted him back. Harrison confirmed he will be staying with the Steelers via Instagram.
Harrison, 38, recorded 53 tackles in 5 sacks in 2016. He will turn 39 before the start of the 2017 season. As for his advanced metrics, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 11th best edge rusher in the NFL last season. His two-year deal is only worth $3.5 million and probably could have gotten more elsewhere but wanted to stay with the historic franchise.
James Harrison has spent the majority of his career with the Steelers except for 2013 as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. The former undrafted player from Kent State has turned out a really productive player for himself. He may not be as quick as he used to be but he is probably stronger in the late stages of his career.
