The Steelers have re-signed the team’s number one cornerback William Gay. Gay’s agent Jerrold Colton confirmed the deal to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. William Gay first announced the deal on his instagram.
Gay, 31, was originally a fifth round pick of the Steelers back in 2007 and has been with the team for every season except one. Gay spent the 2012 season with the Arizona Cardinals. The terms of the new deal have not been announced yet. He played a team high 1,065 snaps last season for Pittsburgh.
The Steelers have kept busy this offseason re-signing special teams ace Robert Golden and veteran wide out Darrius Heyward-Bey. This might be the Steelers last major move of the offseason considering they had very little cap space. Gay was rated as the league’s 46th best cornerback according to Pro Football Focus last season.
